About the role

Lau, Horton & Wise LLP in Association with CMS Hasche Sigle, Hong Kong LLP due to increased workload are looking for two associates to join our Disputes Team in Hong Kong.  The Team is instructed on a variety of cases, many of which are large/complex matters where you will work as a member of a team.  In respect of other small to medium sized cases, you will be required to work independently with minimum supervision.  Key responsibilities include:
•    providing technical expertise and sound advice to clients
•    providing in-depth analysis and briefings for partners
•    developing professional relationships with clients
•    supporting partners in developing and/or pitching for business
•    conducting research required to support client activity
•    speaking at a range of professional and business seminars
•    producing professional articles for publication
•    advocacy at Court for straightforward interlocutory matters
Our highly-ranked team provides practical legal solutions to clients across the shipping and logistics sector. We have a busy practice in Hong Kong acting for shipowners, charterers, P&I Clubs, insurers, recovery agents, banks, trading companies and various transport intermediaries.  The practice is cross-border and cases frequently involve litigation and arbitration in other jurisdictions. 

About you

The ideal candidate will have some experience in shipping, insurance or commodities and be able to communicate in English, Cantonese and Mandarin (spoken and written). 
Candidates falling outside of these parameters, who can demonstrate drive, intelligence and a willingness to specialise and develop their skill base within the Team, are also welcome to apply and will be considered. 
Preferred Experience:
•    2 - 5 years’ experience in shipping, insurance or commodities 
•    Hong Kong qualified
•    Good command of English, Cantonese and Mandarin (spoken and written).
