This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Financial Control Manager to join a rapidly expanding section within a future facing, international law firm.

About the role

Following rapid expansion and growing complexity within the business, the Financial Control Manager is a newly created role aimed at bringing additional capabilities to develop the firm’s compliance and controls agenda to safeguard the assets of the partnership.

The Financial Control Manager is one of three senior managers within the finance controllership team, based in Edinburgh. Each Senior Manager brings a wealth of specialist knowledge and know-how to drive performance while operating in a hands-on role. Reporting directly to the Head of Financial Control, the Financial Control Senior Manager will:
-    Identify and develop ways to improve processes and the control environment across the group; 
-    Take responsibility for group treasury and cash management;
-    Develop the firm’s internal audit capability; 
-    Develop and deliver training to staff on financial risk and compliance;
-    Assume a lead role in ad hoc projects and initiatives;
-    Deputise for the Head of Financial Control as appropriate. 


About you

Previous experience
    Trained at and worked for large accountancy practice (preferable)
    Operating at a senior level in complex international groups (legal market specific experience not a 'must have')
    Development of groupwide processes and controls 
    Treasury and cash management
Professional/Educational Qualification 
    Preferably Qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA, ACCA etc)
    Proficient in MS Office applications (minimum of Excel and Word)

•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate at all levels. 
•    Confident professional manner 
•    Strong analytical skills
•    Demonstrate a high level of technical knowledge and expertise; together with expanding peripheral knowledge and expertise. 
•    Grasps, retains and analyses complex information and concepts; great attention to detail.
•    Deliver high quality, risk aware, pragmatic and practical advice in client friendly, jargon free language (oral and written).
•    Has an excellent understanding of best use of IT and other support functions to enhance advice and services, both within the firm and externally to clients.
•    Ability to show initiative and good judgment, functioning well under pressure, able to switch gears on a moment’s notice and ability to concentrate in an environment of multiple demands and distractions.
•    Ability to handle multiple priorities and perform accurately under time pressures and constraints.
•    Seeks development opportunities and takes responsibility for own training and development, recognises areas for improvement and works to address them in a given timeframe.
•    Strongly self-motivated with a ‘sleeves rolled up’ mindset; always adopts a ‘can do’ approach; takes pride in work.
•    Personal and professional integrity unquestioned; owns up to errors promptly.
•    Sets an example by high quality of own work, consistency, enthusiasm and an open and professional attitude throughout the workplace.
•    Plan, organises and prioritises very well; works to given timeframes; responds promptly to administrative tasks.
•    Identify issues, risks and conflicts at an early stage, seeking assistance as necessary.
