FS Generalist - Senior Associate/Associate (3-6 PQE) - London
We are looking for an associate to join our growing Financial Services Transactions practice in the London office.
The candidate will work on specialist de-risking, reinsurance and life insurance transactions and may come from a corporate insurance, finance or corporate background.

About the role
The FS Transactions team advises pension schemes, insurers, reinsurers, banks and other financial institution clients transactions. The team has 4 partners and 12 associates, some of which have a corporate insurance background and others with a derivatives/finance background.
A large portion of the work is for UK life companies and global reinsurers. A smaller part of our practice is bank and pension trustee facing.
Core clients of the team include: L&G, Pacific Life, PIC, Pheonix, Rothesay and Just Retirement.
Recent work includes acting for:
• Rothesay - on the purchase of Scottish Widows BPA business
• Phoenix - on its agreement with Schroders to form Future Growth Capital, the first private market investment manager to be established in the UK to promote the objectives of the Mansion House Compact.
• Fidelity - on the sale of Fidelity’s section 32 book to Scottish Friendly by Part VII, and
• PIC - on its groundbreaking £6.5bn RSA de-risking.
The CMS team is the largest in the city to focus on this work, is well regarded and is involved in many cutting edge and novel transactions. Successful candidates will be well supported and will get the opportunity to work on big, complex transactions in a growing area.
We are ideally looking for candidates with between 2-6 years of previous qualified experience, though this is not conclusive and we will consider each candidate on their own merit.

We are looking for people who want to work on bespoke transactions which mix different skillsets. This opportunity is open to all suitably qualified applicants, so to be considered for this role you must have transferable transactional skills, be open minded and enthusiastic.
No specific sector experience or knowledge is needed - we are looking for solid legal skills with enquiring minds keen to learn on the job to develop a sector specific focus in transactional work in the FS team at CMS.
