We are looking for a Head of Risk & Compliance to take the lead on a range of legal, risk, regulatory and compliance issues.  This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious and dedicated Risk & Compliance professional to take their career to the next level at a future facing, international law firm.


About the role

The Head of Risk & Compliance will be responsible for compliance across the firm’s offices in the UK, Europe, Asia, the Middle East.  The role involves advising and assisting the firm, partners and staff with a full range of legal, risk, ethical, regulatory, professional conduct, client related and compliance issues in conjunction with the firm’s policies and procedures. 
The Head of Risk & Compliance will provide strategic input into a range of projects including:
- Developing and overseeing the implementation of global compliance programmes
- Monitoring developments in relevant law, regulation, policy and market practice and drafting policies and procedures
- Maintaining risk registers and ensuring risk management plans are implemented and risk incidents are properly investigated
- Overseeing conflict management within the firm and other group member firms
- Advising on third party supplier’s risk management process including onboarding questionnaires, risk assessments and audits
- Advising the partnership on any relevant risk and compliance issues associated with the taking on of new business
- Leading on the implementation of a confidentiality software and the development of internal compliance and security policies, such as restricted workspaces and information barriers
- Advising on cross border engagements, variations to the firm’s standard terms of business and the implementation of a client’s terms database


About you

The ideal candidate will:
- Have significant experience in conflicts and risk management, preferably gained at an international law firm
- Demonstrate good judgement, business awareness, strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to work well under pressure
- Be flexible and able to adapt to new situations, processes and technologies
- Have management, supervisory and team leading experience
- Have excellent communication skills and the ability to quickly build professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders
A legal qualification is desirable but not essential if the relevant skills and experience have been proved in a comparable role.
