CMS, a future facing law firm, are currently looking for an HR Business Partner on an interim basis to provide strategic input into the Firm's strategy and the people agenda across our Central and Eastern European offices working from our London Office.

About the role

Based in the London Office, the interim HR Business Partner will bring an international lens to represent their aligned business area, along with specialist HR expertise to discussions with the MD of Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) and CEE Business Leaders collaborating to develop the people agenda in that region. 

Through strong relationships, working with key business stakeholders and the wider Business Partnering and HR team, the HR BP will design and implement appropriate commercially driven actions to support the firm-wide and regional people plans and other key initiatives. Reporting into the Head of UK Business Partnering (UK and International), you will be a leader within the wider HR function, as well as an HR leader in your client group, identifying and acting on opportunities to coach and develop colleagues within the function.
Key responsibilities:

- Lead HR Business Partnering responsibility for Central and Eastern Europe – to be a key point of contact for HR consultancy services for that defined client group.

- Implement the firm-wide people plan in the region and ensure that the international perspective is considered in the design of firm-wide HR initiatives.

- Work with designated business stakeholders and HR colleagues to define a people plan for region, including but not limited to talent management, skills development requirements, active career management, wellbeing and employee engagement to enable them to deliver on their regional strategy.

- To lead on the approach to and coordination of cyclical HR activity such as performance reviews and annual reward cycle utilising the Office Manager network to deliver locally on the ground.

- Provide trusted one to one guidance to the Managing Director and Partners on HR matters.

- Review the operating model for HR in the region to identify opportunities for operational improvements, reducing risk and creating efficiencies.

- Provide general advice on HR policies and managing complex Employee Relations issues, liaising with the firm’s employment lawyers in different jurisdictions if necessary.

- Work with colleagues to drive innovation and continuous improvement across the HR function ensuring knowledge is captured across the firm.

- Lead on HR projects for the firm, diagnosing needs and developing solutions.

- Be an active member of the HR Business Partnering leadership team, acting as a leader of the HR function as well as an HR leader withing your aligned client group.

- Work closely with colleagues in HR Business Partnering team and provide cover for their client groups during holidays and as required.

- In partnership with the International HR Manager for Asia & ME, set direction for and support International HR Advisor through setting clear objectives and supporting their development.

  About you

- Commercial and pragmatic with a hands-on approach.

- Comfortable dealing with ambiguity – this is a role in which you will continually be exposed to new challenges.

- Strong diagnosis and analysis skills and ability to exercise good judgement.

- Strong coaching, influencing and negotiation skills to foster true strategic partnering, rather than generalist advisory.

- Willingness to travel within Central and Eastern Europe and within the UK (if not based in London) on a regular basis.  It is anticipated that approximately 20-30% of the role-holder’s time will be spent travelling on business.  The role holder may also be required to travel occasionally to other international offices out with CEE and the UK.

- Excellent written and oral communication skills. 

- Able to articulate best practice HR in a practical and accessible manner, both face to face and in writing. 

- Strong presentation skills desirable.

- Able to build relationships at all levels based on trust, respect and service delivery.

- Collaborative and proactive in seeking opportunities to work with colleagues to co-create solutions that meet needs of multiple client groups.

- Confident, calm and credible with excellent communication and relationship building skills.
