We have an opportunity for a mid-level IP associate, able to take on a broad range of work which will include advising clients on soft IP litigation to advising clients on IP strategy and licensing matters through to supporting corporate colleagues on transactions.

About the role

Our Intellectual Property practice group has an opportunity for a business focused lawyer to join our prestigious team who are ranked highly in both Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners.
Our multi-disciplinary team comprised of patent attorneys, trade mark attorneys, solicitors and solicitor-advocates conducts a wide range of work undertaking cutting edge work. Our team focuses on work of the highest quality and our clients range from large blue chip organisations to smaller commercial entities.
You will be involved with:
- A broad range of both contentious and non-contentious IP matters
- Acting for clients on soft IP litigation before IPEC, High Court and/or before Trade Mark Registry
- Drafting and negotiating a broad range of IP focused agreements such as settlement and co-existence agreements; licence, franchise and distribution agreements; IP assignments; collaboration agreements; and/or technology transfer agreements.  
- Advising on IP strategy, conducting IP audits for clients and advising generally on the protection, licensing and enforcement of IP rights. 
- Providing efficient professional support for partners
- Developing professional relationships with clients
- Supporting the wider team in developing business and raising profile of the firm
- Business development opportunities

About you

- You will have excellent analytical skills and experience of running your own files and assisting partners on more complex cases or matters/transactions
- Degree/CPE/LPC/GDL (or equivalent)
- Knowledge of IP law and practice, as well as a well-developed understanding of Chancery Court and IPEC procedure.
- Appropriate level of post qualification experience in a City, major regional or leading international firm
- To meet demands of the role we envisage this to be in the region of 3-4 PQE
- Experience in handling clients in major blue chip companies
- Excellent drafting skills and the ability to translate legal theory into practical advice
- Due to the role being client facing you will need to have confidence, sound judgment, good interpersonal and consultancy skills
- The role will require an energetic, enthusiastic associate willing to take on responsibility for running matters proactively
