The Manchester team has a very entrepreneurial character and its sights set on ambitious growth. We are seeking to appoint a Legal Advisor (non-qualified) to assist the Professional Discipline and Regulatory Team with a range of work.

About the role

Main responsibilities of the job:
·         To assist the team advising in the areas of CQC (and other regulators of health and social care) and Ofsted (and other regulators in education), including in relation to registration requirements, safeguarding concerns, challenges to inspection findings, defending claims brought by the regulator (civil and criminal), investigations and inquest proceedings.
·         Assisting with corporate transaction due diligence.
·         To run a caseload and work closely with all members of the team in the investigation and preparation of cases for the GOC/RICS. Including cases involving allegations of poor performance, sexual misconduct, dishonesty and health concerns.
·         To support the team assisting MDU members and private clients defending cases before their regulatory body, Trust investigations, inquest proceedings and criminal cases.
·         To work with the team to provide regulatory advice in the developing area of internet based healthcare including cross boarder regulation.
·         Drafting documentation to a high level to include routine correspondence, Instructions to Counsel/experts, witness statements and allegations. Responding to routine enquiries.
·         Undertaking legal and business development research.
·         Evaluating information received during an investigation and advising on the appropriate course of action.
·         Ensuring that all work handled in accordance with agreed guidelines, timeframes and service standards.
·         Meeting performance targets and providing a quality service to the client.
·         Client secondment opportunities

About you

Desirable that the candidate has:
o    legal qualifications, law degree, CiLex, LPC or legal work experience
o    previous experience dealing with professional disciplinary cases
o    either some experience or a keen interest to learn the areas of CQC and Ofsted regulatory schemes
o    some experience working for client’s in the healthcare, social care and education sector
The ideal candidate will also have good analytical administrative and organisational skills and be a good communicator when dealing with clients/others in meetings, via telephone and email.
