Patent Attorney Life Sciences London/Northern region
We are looking for maternity cover for a 12 month fixed term contract to support our Life Sciences team in London, which forms a part of Band 1 ranked patent attorney practice. You can be based in one of our Sheffield, Manchester or London offices.

About the Role
Joining our team within a global law firm represents a unique opportunity in the profession. Our team has a busy patent drafting, filing and prosecution docket with due diligence work supporting corporate transactions, as well as providing litigation support. You will be doing challenging work across the sector, with an excellent client base that includes global pharma and biotechs as well as numerous SMEs and start-ups. We have a significant opposition practice before the EPO.
About You
We are looking for candidates with a scientific background in biology and/or biochemistry. Ideally, you will also have dual European Patent and UK qualifications and have worked in some of the following areas: biochemistry, cell biology, cell and gene therapy, antibodies, diagnostics, nucleic acid and peptide inventions.
In addition, the ideal candidate will:
- be self-motivated in further developing their knowledge of IP law and patent prosecution work;
- be proactive in undertaking a wide range of work, across diverse technical and legal areas;
- have excellent attention to detail and organisational skills, with experience working under pressure towards tight deadlines whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy;
- be flexible in their attitude and an effective team player; and
- have excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
