About the Role

We are seeking a patent records manager to oversee the day to day running and development of our patent records team consisting of a senior records clerk and junior records clerk. 

The role provides an excellent opportunity for an experienced senior records clerk to take the next step in their career. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to really put their own stamp onto the role. 

The successful candidate will have a strong background and understanding of patent formalities law, patent records and patent renewals, with the ability to apply the law and knowledge of the records system, in context, to solve problems and ensure processes remain as efficient as possible.   

The position requires an innovative, evolutionary and dynamic mindset. 

The successful candidate will need to provide an open-minded, quality driven work ethic and be able to adapt to changes quickly and efficiently. It is also critical to be able to communicate effectively at all levels. 

You be will be working closely with the Head of Patent Formalities to ensure compliance with the department’s procedures as well as challenging and developing existing guidelines and procedures.      

About You

Minimum of 5 years’ experience within a patent records role

CIPA administration certificate desired but not essential if you can demonstrate the relevant experience.  

Understanding of the importance of data maintenance and integrity

High attention to detail 

Low error rate 

Minimum of 5 GCSE’s grade C or above, including maths and English 

Strong administrative and organisational skills 

Good interpersonal and communication skills with a proactive, personable approach 

A team player who is conscientious and motivated 

Ability to manage and priories own workload and workload of wider records team, as required 

Strong IT skills with excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. 

Ability to work consistently and accurately under pressure. 

Process driven and organised who excels at meeting deadlines when working within a busy team environment
