CMS, a future facing Law Firm, is looking to engage with an experienced Senior Corporate Tax Manager to join our Finance Team to support the management of the tax affairs for the Firm across its UK and international activities.


About the role

As a senior member of the tax team your responsibilities will include:
- Meeting complex demands for tax reporting, compliance, planning, strategy and controversy. 
- Integrating deep technical and industry knowledge with established methodologies, to help develop and implement effective, practical and sustainable tax strategies. 
- Leading financial planning, accounting and tax compliance activity and maintaining effective relationships with the tax authorities.
- Working to structure transactions and operations in a tax-effective manner, mitigating tax risk, complying effectively with tax laws and taking into account the prospect of change. 
- Building and maintaining relationships with Partners and stakeholders as their trusted advisor.
- Tax risk oversight, including maintaining regular communications on new legislation, business changes, tax authority engagement and tax audits, providing support and guidance where appropriate e.g. in managing relationships with external advisors.
- Advising on withholding tax issues and exposure for the firm, both in relation to client transactions and interoffice balance settlement.
- Ongoing review of processes and procedures to identify scope for improvement.
- Advising on tax implications and on how any risks may be mitigated.
- Advising on tax implications of new models for contracting with and billing clients.
 


About you

The ideal candidate:
- Significant experience in Corporate Tax from a large accountancy or law firm  
- Tax qualification (e.g. ADIT or CTA) strongly desirable
- Personal or Corporate Tax experience to Senior Manager level
- Degree qualified 
- ACA or equivalent accounting qualification desirable
- Experience in tax accounting/tax audit 
- Evidence of strong numeric skills
- Proven ability to read and interpret existing and new tax statute
- Strong communication skills, able to influence thinking on tax planning and compliance
