CMS - international law firm is looking for a Senior Information Specialist to join the Knowledge and Research Services team on a Fixed Term Contract basis for 12 months. 
The opportunity 
To contribute to the delivery of Knowledge and Research Services (KRS) to CMS fee-earners, support staff and the wider CMS community as well as the firm’s Strategic Client Portfolio (SCP) as required.
To exploit all available information sources and facilitate user access to relevant content. 

Contribute to delivery of front-line Knowledge and Research Services from Cannon Place physical Knowledge HelpDesk (London) or via a virtual HelpDesk service (Bristol) on a rota basis (9am – 6pm).

Contribute to the efficient and effective management of workflow of requests to the Knowledge Help Desk using the workflow tool agreed (ServiceNow) to ensure all requests are fully documented showing the complete email trail and then delivered back to the client within Service Level Agreements.

Research using traditional printed materials, commercial electronic sources as well as the internet. 
Providing advice on self-service solutions for simpler enquiries, calling on the resources available via the CMS Compass Knowledge system and intranet.
Capturing research know-how for future use and contributing to the team knowledge bank WIKI and internal pages on ‘K4K’ Compass pages as appropriate.
Contribute to design and delivery of Knowledge training and induction programme for Trainees and New Joiners to include presentation, guidance and information documentation.

Delivery of current awareness services to include commercial press alerts and/or dashboards using both the contracted service (Lexis NewsDesk) and other relevant resources both commercial and freely available. 
Contribute to the continuous review and improvement of processes.
Specific projects as required.

Previous Experience
Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in Information Services is essential, in the legal or professional services sector.
Significant experience of undertaking research and/or answering enquiries.
Extensive knowledge and experience of wide range of legal data sources both hard copy and core online (Lexis Library, Lexis PSL, Practical Law, Westlaw UK, Nexis, Lexis NewsDesk).
Awareness of key company and business research databases (Companies House, Dun & Bradstreet, FT) and an excellent ability to search across publicly available sources, as well as the ability to use and review core internal data sources.
Experience of delivering training and induction sessions.
Research Monitor experience desirable.
SharePoint and intranet maintenance skills desirable.

Professional/
Educational Qualification
A degree or post-graduate qualification in Information and Library Management, or Information Science is essential. Chartered CILIP Status, membership of BIALL or similar desirable.
